Lemonade Book Reviews

About

I love lemonade

Hi folks! My name is MK and I am the owner of this blog. I am a queer, white, autistic woman (she/her pronouns) and I love to read! I’m starting this blog for a few reasons:

1. I’ve always wanted to talk about books online. I remember finding BookTube when I was in middle school and desperately wanting to become a YouTuber, but my mom said no and that was probably for the best at the time.

2. I want to create a place online to share my queer readings of books. I read Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb for the first time last year, and while much has been said about the major queer relationship in those books online, I felt like there was a lot outside of that relationship that was also ripe for discussion. Also, most of the discussions of queerness in those books are full of spoilers and I want to discuss those relationships as they are presented in each book without spoilers.

3. I also want to explore neurodivergent readings of books. Those themes are present throughout the Realm of the Elderlings but I also haven’t seen much discussion online, so I’m starting there.

My credentials are that I’m hyperlexic, autistic, and queer. I took a lot of English classes for fun in college, but I was a chemistry major and math minor. These are not going to be at the level of an English lit grad student, but they will be fun! While the Realm of the Elderlings is going to be a main focus of the start of this blog, I also plan on reviewing other books and series over time. Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Legacy series is something that I think could have a very interesting reading through a neurodivergent lens (at the very least Phèdre’s trilogy can). There will also be normal book reviews.

Finally, because it’s 2026, I just want to state that I am very left leaning and I condemn the actions of the US government (foreign and domestic). Fuck Donald Trump. If you can’t handle that, get the hell of my blog.
