Hi folks! Sometimes I’m going to be talking about heavy themes from books and I want to tag those themes appropriately.
In the structure of posts that have content warnings, I will include a content warning in the first few sentences of the post. I will then put a note for the content warning in bold when I get to the part of the post that is going to contain that content, and I will put a note in bold at the end of that section saying that it ends there.
In terms of content that will get a CW, I am working under the assumption that you have read the book that corresponds to the post you’re reading. If a content warning exists for a book, it will generally also apply to my review of said book. For example, there’s a lot of animal cruelty in the Farseer trilogy, which you will know if you have read it. I don’t know that it’s necessary to start every post with “CW: animal cruelty” unless it’s going to be one of the main topics I discuss. Conversely, I read the scene in Assassin’s Apprentice where Galen invades Fitz’s mind as a rape. Fitz never conceptualizes that moment as such, so when I discussed it in that context, I included a content warning.
If there is a subject that you think I’m not appropriately flagging, please let me know! I want the blog to be accessible for people.
